It doesn't hold the weight of my fairly standard 6 weight + reel
Thanks for the review John, could you shoot us an email with a picture of your setup on your rod? We've found a lot of times when the magent doesn't seem strong enough it's actually a setup issue as it should hold a standard six weight without issue. If that doesn't make a difference, we'll ship you out an XL so you can have some extra power.

I installed the Rod Roost on my UL , Temple Fork Trout and Panfish rod . With a Shimano 500 reel, magnet supports it just fine. Item is a little pricy so should have free shipping since it is so small and light.
This rod holder works great! I do less wading to lay my rod down. I love it!
This last weekend I floated the upper Green River through the Seedskadee Natl. Wildlife Refuge, about 7 miles. I used my Rod Roost for the first time in the field, it was very easy to install, I appreciated that they sent an extra band. It worked as advertised. I use an Orvis Rod and Reel combo a 9' er. I was concerned it wouldn't hold the weight, but it did no problem. When you exit the float to wade fish and need to tie on a new fly or a dropper. It is nice to have a place to hang your Rod. I spent a ton of money on my setup and don't want it in the dirt or water. This is an easy option and slick piece of kit for that application. I put my magnet about 1.5 ft above my reel, so the rod and reel set above my waist line...Very nice! Love the color options, went with blue and gold as my son and I served in the Navy!
