Tried it for the first time , worked easily got the 5x tippet thru the size 18 fly. Happy for that!
It appears you guys have figured out the solution to a problem many of us have. The Fly Roost works very well, is easy to use and the magnet really secures the fly during tge knot tying process. I’ve practiced with the tool while at my tying bench and found it extremely helpful. Will be trying out on the water in the Sierras over the next two weeks. Hopefully the performance will be the same as it was at the bench!

Complete waste of money. Dozens of attempts with multiple flies and none worked. Even had three other people try and they all failed to get it to work.
Was able to thread each fly by hand but could not get this dumb thing to work even once.
Note: even if it did work (which it doesn’t) this would not save any time and would still require reading glasses (if you need them to tie flies).

My hands get tired and hurt during a full day on the river. I took this out for two days back to back and didn't have any pain! Would recommend!
