Rigging a size 24 gnat to 7x tippet with your bare fingers and naked eye is a badge of honor. We get it. But fingers get cold, light gets bad, hands and eyes get tired. The Fly Roost is here to help! The Fly Roost holds your fly in place, guides your line through the eye of the hook, and spins to help you finish the knot. The Fly Roost lets you easily thread and knot your fly no matter how small the hook or how frozen the fingers. The Fly Roost works with most hooks and fly types from size 6 down to size 24.

Before you leave us a review...
Please make sure you purchased an authentic Talweg product. If you ordered from anywhere other than this website or an actual fly shop, if you paid anything other than 29.99, or if you got a useless piece of plastic in the mail , then you unfortunately purchased a fake from Chinese counterfeiters.
They are using our name and our images but they are selling fakes. Our products are made in and shipped from Utah. We would love to help you get the real product, but please don't leave us a review of a product that we didn't sell. If you're not sure, send us an email and we will get you taken care of.
A friend gave me a knock off version of the Fly Rooster. The magnet was pathetic and it was pretty much worthless. I threw it in the trash but it stirred my curiosity. I found the Real Fly Rooster and ordered one. It was night and day in terms of function. I probably would have passed it off had it not been for my friend’s good intentions. It really is a treat, especially on cold days.
Great the few times I have been able to. Unfortunately low water levels and exreme heat have not given me many opportunitues. But, the opportunities I have had it was easy to use. Check your eyelets to make sure they are clear, then drop and go.
Very helpful and easy to use!
I love the idea but when actually using it it only works 25% of the time, if that.
Thanks for the review Chad, if you're willing we'd love to get a little more detail on your experience (what type and size of flies, what tippet, etc.) so we can figure out what's happening. 25% success rate is definitely not the norm. Makes me wonder what's happening. In the end if we need to process a return, just reply and let us know.
Don't fall for an imitation like I did. The imitations have two major faults: (1) the magnet is too small and too far away from the hook's eyes to hold them. (2) The slots for the hooks eyes are too small to hold the eye for the line to slide through. The Rooster performs just as the instructional video shows. Quality usually does.
Thanks for the review David! Sorry about the fakes. So frustrating.
